A false practice of blood letting and a blatant lie against Abraham the Prophet of GOD. Another year where many animals will be tortured for fun and sport. The ego of man as to how many was cut on the day or who had the biggest BULL!!! This practice has nothing to do with Islam.

Did Abraham Try To Kill His Son.
Abraham was not easily swayed by blind belief or orders. Abraham after believing did not question God for they were absolutely rational orders. Yet all these stories of an attempted murder and ritual sacrifice practiced today have been based not on an order but on a personal dream or vision. This dream and vision has nothing to do with murder and blood rituals. A man who advocated for a community of sinners was now going to murder an innocent. Abraham went from being a saint to a mindless savage who practices human sacrifice upon an alter. One has to ask themselves how can Abraham be the leader of mankind when he was going to commit murder.
Are you really trying understanding what is being said here.

 
Now we know that when the young man is mentioned with Abraham that he was quiet old and being a practicing prophet of God for sometime. So the Quran being a book of guidance and Abraham being one of the founders and leader for mankind was surely a practicing the values listed in the Quran and other scriptures. If not then Abraham cannot be the leader of any prophets or mankind as such. We will now take a look at the Quranic instructions that we should all follow and more so Abraham when it concerns children. Is there any command in the Quran that we should kill our kids or the innocent in general?

6:140  LOST ARE THOSE WHO KILL THEIR CHILDREN FOOLISHLY, WITH NO BASIS IN KNOWLEDGE, AND FORBID WHAT GOD HAS PROVIDED FOR THEM-INNOVATIONS ABOUT GOD. THEY HAVE GONE ASTRAY. THEY ARE DISBELIEVERS.

6:151  Say, "Come, let me tell you what your Lord has forbidden you: that you associate nothing with Him; that you honor your parents; THAT YOU DO NOT KILL YOUR CHILDREN BECAUSE OF POVERTY-WE PROVIDE FOR YOU AND FOR THEM; THAT YOU DO NOT COME NEAR INDECENCIES, WHETHER OUTWARD OR INWARD; AND THAT YOU DO NOT KILL THE SOUL WHICH GOD HAS SANCTIFIED-EXCEPT IN THE COURSE OF JUSTICE. All this He has enjoined upon you, so that you may understand."

17: 31  AND DO NOT KILL YOUR CHILDREN FOR FEAR OF POVERTY. WE PROVIDE FOR THEM, AND FOR YOU. KILLING THEM IS A GRAVE SIN.

Now if look at the above verses do you think Abraham the leader of mankind was not aware of these commands. Abraham advocated for the savages of Sodom (11:74) and now  he wants to kill his innocent son because of a dream. If we look at the first verse 6:140  have no knowledge…and are disbelievers, is that the Abraham we know bereft of knowledge. The other verses also speak about killing ones offspring as an abomination. Now let us look at the actuality of the verses that led to this misunderstanding.

2:285  The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, as did the believers. They all have believed in God, and His angels, and His scriptures, and His messengers: "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "WE HEAR AND WE OBEY. Your forgiveness, our Lord. To you is the destiny."

5:7 Recall God's blessings over you and His
covenant that He has bound you with, for
which you have said, "WE HEAR AND
OBEY," and be aware of God; for God
knows what is inside the chests.

37:101 So We gave him good news of a
compassionate child.
37:102 When he grew enough to work with
him, he said, "My son, I am seeing in a
dream that I am sacrificing you. What
do you think?" He said, "O my father,
do what you are commanded to do.
You will find me, God willing,
patient."

I do not want to digress too much but one can see that when the messengers are commanded they say “We hear and obey”. If  analyze verse 37:102 you will notice that there was no command actually given to Abraham but rather it was a dream. So the fact remains a dream. Now we need to analyze the word ‘sacrifice’ for it can have multiple meanings not only killing. One can sacrifice his time, money or relationship. Abraham was about to sacrifice his relationship with his son. Abraham son then said to his father to do as he was commanded. Was Abraham not commanded not to kill his offspring as we saw earlier in this chapter. His son was re-iterating to his father the command given being a practicing Muslim himself. Abraham’s son was very familiar with the command prohibiting one from killing their offspring unless someone can bring proof of a command from ALLAH to kill our children or an innocent. Now let us analyze the rest of the verses.

37:103 So when they both had peacefully
surrendered, and he put his forehead
down.
37:104 We called him: "O Abraham,"
37:105 "You have acknowledged the vision."
It was such that We rewarded the
righteous.*
37:106 Surely, this was an exacting test.
37:107 We ransomed him with a great
sacrifice.
37:108 We kept his history for those who
came later.
37:109 Peace be upon Abraham.

(They both peacefully surrendered to ALLAH and Abraham put his forehead down in submission ALLAH called to him saying he had fulfilled the vision of parting with his beloved son Ismail. This is a lesson for all fathers that when their kids are old enough and want to leave for their own path in life to help them rather than be an obstacle in their way.)

37:110 It is thus that We reward the righteous.
37:111 He was of Our acknowledging
servants.
37:112 We gave him the good news of the
coming of Isaac, a prophet from among
the righteous.
37:113 We blessed him and Isaac. From
among their progeny, some are
righteous, and some are clearly
wicked.

(The reward for parting with one son was the coming of another a reward and good news. Not anywhere in the Quran will you find any mention of a knife or a ram that is all hearsay. Here you have clear cut answers to the incident concerning Abraham. How do we know Abraham parted with his son? Well let the Quran speak for itself.)

014:037
"O our Lord! I have made some (Arabic: min) of my offspring (Arabic: Dhuriyati) to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish salah: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits: so that they may give thanks"
As we can see Abraham had to part with some of his kids including Ismail who helped him maintain the system of ALLAH. Who better fit than Ismail to spread the word and lead a community the way his father did.

Conclusion
If one needs an instruction manual or a book to tell them right from wrong then you are indeed evil. Atheists currently are the most peaceful society on earth. They give charity without expecting any reward of heaven or good favor with God and so on. So people can be good without an instruction manual. Abraham fitted into the same category when he rejected his peoples God as a man who able to differentiate reality from falsehood. Abraham could never have tried to kill his son being a man of sound reasoning. We need to really use our intellect before we come to a conclusion that’s make the Quran look like the book of blood rituals.
